The U18 AA Apex Gold Wings are provincial champions.

The Gold Wings doubled up the Warman Wildcats 4-2 Sunday afternoon at the Harry O Memorial Arena in Midale to win the third and final game of the series. The win is the first provincial title in team history.

The Wildcats started the game strong. Alexis Randall scored on the power play for the visitors 5:56 into the first period, and Kloey Rosciski added another with 4:15 remaining to make it 2-0 after 20 minutes.

The Gold Wings responded in the second period.

It all started with a power play goal from Hadley Gerle 6:49 into the frame. The goal, Gerle’s fourth of the playoffs, was assisted by Brooke Allan. Then Elizabeth Gill notched her first of the post-season 8:41 into the second period. The goal, also scored on the power play, was assisted by Samara Seghers.

In the third period, Seghers would score a goal of her own. Her third of the playoffs came with 7:52 to put the Gold Wings up 3-2. Allan had the assist on the tally. Ella Schenher then rounded out the scoring with 2:18 left to go. The marker, her eighth of the postseason, was assisted by Gerle.
