The African Children's Choir by Music for Life is coming to High River this Saturday.

18 Ugandan children comprise the choir as they tour across North America with local family hosts helping.

Music for Life is based in Africa and the choirs are made up of many children at times from across the entire continent.

Jim Luzze, who's now in his 20s, was with the choir and was one of the original children involved.

The children come from vulnerable backgrounds, many with limited opportunities to even go to school.

The group focuses on building up future leaders for their countries through the power of music, education and hope.

Luzze said the children are much like him, and this program can transform their lives.

"Aged between 7 to 9 years of age.  All in the name of raising funds for their education and well-being, plus also, to help support other children who don't get to travel."

The choir typically tours the world for six months, sharing popular children's songs, traditional spiritual songs and African cultural pieces.

Reflecting on his time in the choir as a child, Luzze added "We needed the help, we needed the opportunity so that we can change that story and become the changemakers the organization wants all of us to be." Luzze was part of Choir #16, and the current choir touring is #52.

There's no cost to attend the performance this Saturday, April 5, at the High River Alliance Church, but donations would be greatly appreciated.

Music for Life is an international Christian organization.
