Weyburn residents can expect a splash of excitement this Tuesday as the City of Weyburn officially relaunches its Spring and Summer Leisure Guide, with a renewed focus on the upcoming outdoor pool season.
Kaylee Ens, Program Manager for the City of Weyburn, says this isn’t just a standard seasonal release — it's a purposeful relaunch meant to spotlight new features and opportunities at the pool.
“We wanted to highlight the relaunch to promote our outdoor pool season,” Ens explained. “This season is a little bit different, just because we do only have that outdoor pool season now. So, just a relaunch to kind of get it fresh in people’s minds and share some updates about it.”
One of the key changes is the introduction of new season pass rates, providing full access to the pool for the entire summer. Details on pricing are available in the updated guide and online at weyburn.ca.
Another new offering this year is after-school swimming lesson sessions, set to begin in June.
“We’ll have a couple of those sessions in June, so starting right after school up until about 5 p.m. each day,” Ens said. “That’ll give families kind of an opportunity to get those lessons in before the summer actually hits.”
The pool is scheduled to open May 16, weather permitting. The relaunch includes a full drop-in pool schedule, featuring options like lane swim, adult swim, public swim, parent-and-tot swims for just $2, $5 family swims, and free swims for children and youth. These will be posted to the City’s Xplor portal, accessible through the city website.
The Leisure Guide also features details on registered aquatic programs such as Aquafit, Swim for All, and a variety of swimming lessons — both group and private — throughout the summer. Important dates include April 24th, when the class schedules go live, and May 1st, when registration opens at 8 a.m.
For those looking to pursue lifeguarding or aquatic leadership, the guide confirms a Swim for Life Instructor Course, with more leadership training opportunities potentially being added later in the season.
Planning a pool party or looking to rent the facility? “All the details will be included in the relaunch as well,” Ens confirmed.
As for how residents can access the guide, Ens says everything will be online. “You can find the Leisure Guide on our website at weyburn.ca, or you can watch our social media pages for the link there as well tomorrow.”
