Over the course of April, Altona Town Council will be meeting to review the progress of its strategic plan set in 2023. Two years ago, council set those key strategies to be making fiscally responsible decisions, practicing good environmental stewardship and preparing for sustainable growth.

"The areas that we focused on from 2023 until today with those strategies were; Recreation and Culture, Transportation Infrastructure, Economic Development and Organizational Strength," explained Mayor Harv Schroeder. "We will be sharing updates with the community on progress in those areas this month, and are getting together to review whether these areas still need focus right now, and what’s next."

During today's In the Mayor's Chair, he also noted the Van Goh big easel survey is now closed, with more than 500 responses received.

"Our team is currently reviewing the feedback, and will communicate the results, and the plan for what’s next to the community," he said.

That isn't the only survey community members are being asked to fill out.

"We are currently collecting feedback for our Urban Forest Management Strategy," said Schroeder. "We are having a strategy developed on how we manage our trees in town and want to hear from the community. There’s a survey on the tree page of the Altona website that takes about ten minutes. When done, you an enter to win an Aquatic Centre prize pack valued at more than $300."
