The Foam Lake Flyers finished off their season on a high note as they claimed the Long Lake Hockey Championship by defeating the Drake Canucks 7-6 in overtime.
Foam Lake won the best of five series 3-2.
It was a fast start to the game, with the two teams combining for seven goals. The Flyers led 4-3 after 20 minutes.
In the second period, Drake closed the gap, by tying the game at 5-5.
Each team scored a goal in the third period setting up for a dramatic finish in extra time.
Isaac Schacher was the overtime hero for Foam Lake, scoring his second goal of the game.
Travis Mayan led the Flyers scoring with six points (2G-4A), Zach Zadorozniak had two goals and Adam Osczevski also had four points (1G-3A).
For Drake, Cameron Blair had a five-point night (2G-3A), John Lawrence scored two goals, David Stumborg and Rylan Stadnek also scored.
Along with winning the Long Lake Hockey League Championship, the Flyers also claimed the Senior ‘C’ Provincial Championship.
