A busy end to March for the Estevan Police Service as they dealt with a number of issues over the final few days.
March 28th was very busy, beginning with a report of a male tying a rope to the eaves of a local school. After speaking to the male, it was determined he wasn’t doing anything criminal and was asked to move on.
In the Trojan division, police attended to a disturbance, speaking to all parties involved and mediating the disturbance.
Police conducted a wellness check on an intoxicated male, going to the individual’s residence and confirming that he was safe and well and required no additional assistance.
A report of a theft was received from a local business in the industrial area of the city. The matter is still under investigation.
EPS members located a three-vehicle collision while on patrol. The collision was minor in nature, with the vehicles being drivable, with one of the passengers complaining of a possible injury. One of the drivers was issued a summary offense ticket for driving too fast for the road conditions.
Two separate reports of criminal harassment were received and are both now under investigation.
A Report Impaired Drivers (RID) complaint was received in the 400 Block of 3rd Street. Members patrolled the area and saw that the suspect vehicle was parked at a residence, where it remained for the rest of the night.
A dispute and assault involving residents on George Street was reported, with all parties spoken to, and the argument was resolved for the night. Police continue to investigate the allegation of assault.
Police handed out a driver's license suspension and vehicle impoundment for a 53-year-old female who tested positive for THC on an Oral Fluid Device after members observed suspicious driving actions on patrol.
EPs received a complaint from two females about indecent communications being received from a male on social media. That investigation is ongoing.
Police talked with several youths and issued a ticket for stunting after a vehicle was observed driving erratically in the Walmart parking lot.
The weekend continued on March 29th with a few more reports coming in, including one of a report of an assault involving tenants in a multi-dwelling rental property. Police continue to investigate.
A report was received of a vehicle driving backwards through the drive-thru at a local restaurant, with an additional report of them being rude to staff at the business. The police located the vehicle a short time later, and the individuals were warned for their driving actions and behaviour towards the staff.
Police are currently investigating a complaint of a tenant uttering threats against another tenant of the same building was received and remains under investigation.
The lone report of March 30th included a request for members to attend a residence to assist EMS staff. Subsequently, a patient was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital, with Police and Crisis Team (PACT) members following up with the individual.
On the last day of the month, March 31st, a report of a break and enter in progress was received concerning a downtown apartment building. When attending, members discovered that the landlord and service people were accessing the building to perform work, and no break-in had occurred.
EPS received a purple phone wallet containing several cards and ID. No contact information has been determined for the individual, but the police invite the owner to the police service building to collect the items at any time.
A report came in of a suspicious person entering backyards. When police arrived, they found that the male was raking leaves for homeowners to earn some money.
Capping off the day, police received two separate reports of possible domestic disturbances. In both instances, members attended and found that verbal arguments had occurred between partners; however, nothing criminal had occurred, and all parties were safe and well.
