Manitoba Parks is gearing up for its 2025 camping season, with reservations opening for cabins, yurts, and campgrounds beginning April 7. Elisabeth Ostrop, Manager of Recreation and Education Services at Manitoba Parks, shared key details on how Manitobans can secure their spots.

"Reservations will open in stages across five days, starting with April 7 for some sites, and then rolling out for others, including Birds Hill, Winnipeg Beach, and Grand Beach on April 8. By Friday, all remaining locations will be available for booking."

Campers can make reservations online at manitobaparks.com, or by calling the parks call center. For those who prefer in-person booking, a walk-up counter will open at 1181 Portage Avenue in Winnipeg from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Ostrop also offered advice for those trying to navigate the reservation process, particularly online.

"Make sure you know your login and password ahead of time and consider using an up-to-date browser to avoid technical issues. If your preferred spots are already taken, try exploring a new park. There are many beautiful places to visit across Manitoba, and availability may be easier in some parks than others."

This year, there's a notable change: Manitoba Parks will not require park entry permits, making visits a bit simpler for outdoor enthusiasts. While Ostrop could not confirm specific updates to park offerings, she hinted at new features that may become available soon.

She finished off with some advice about your favourite camping spots.

"Even if your top choices aren't available on opening day, keep checking back. Plans often change, and spots can free up throughout the season."
