Spring is coming to the southeast, and with that, Saskatchewan parks are getting ready to open to the public. Moose Mountain Provincial Park is getting ready to open, with registrations beginning in just under a week.
Park Manager Kim Brown lays out their timeline.
"The 2025 camping reservations for Saskatchewan provincial parks open this upcoming Monday, April 7th, for seasonal camping and April 8th to 15th for nightly camping. Parks will launch in a staggered approach throughout the week, with Moose Mountain launching on April 10th. To reserve your campsite, visit parks.saskatchewan.ca."
Brown says that the staff have been working hard to make sure the camps are ready for their launch, with some snow still getting cleared out.
They've also been working on new summer events for campers across the province for the 2025 season.
"Cabin Fever Art Festival at Moose Mountain is on August 23rd. They also have the forest at Meadow Lake, the Prairie Day at Buffalo Pound, and new guided hiking events such as Hike The Heights of Cypress Hill and Into The Pines at Candle Lake."
Brown says that all of these events are free for anyone with a valid park entry permit.
Moose Mountain will be open on the May long weekend, with the first day being May 15th. The season is set to last until closing day on September 30th.
Brown invites everyone to come to the park and experience what they have to offer this summer.
"If you're looking for something to do this summer, Saskatchewan parks boast a variety of diverse parks offering visitors many options for enjoyable and affordable vacations close to home. We hope that people look at Saskatchewan provincial parks for their vacations this year, as we're certainly looking forward to welcoming everybody."
