The spring weather is in full swing this weekend, which will be great for all the fun to be had this weekend.

Here is what's happening in Okotoks this weekend:

Friday, April 4:

At the Okotoks Public Library, families will be able to make Easter Bunny portraits out of recycled material from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

As part of this week's Nature Fridays event, little explorers will celebrate the season of blooming flowers and fresh beginnings, and they will discover the magic of spring. The event runs from 1 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Environmental Education Centre.

The Viking Rentals Centre will be hosting the 2025 Hockey Alberta U17 AAA Provincial Championships all weekend.

Saturday, April 5:

It's Hockey Day in Canada at Okotoks Nissan, and Okotoks Nissan will be hosting a street hockey tournament, and Kevin Wallace from The Eagle 100.9 and former NHL goaltender and current sports broadcaster Kelly Hrudey will be in attendance for the day.

The Okotoks Rec Centre will host the Okotoks & District Chambers of Commerce's annual Okotoks Trade and Lifestyle Show, as well as the Spring Fling Artisan Market. There will be about 90 vendors on both the trade show side of the event and roughly another 90 vendors on the artisan side of the event. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The first Saturday of every month at the Okotoks Museum and Archives is story time. They host the event in their attic, and storytellers will read themed books which will spark curiosity in children, followed my a craft portion of the day. It's for kids aged 4 to 10 and is free, and begins at 10 a.m.

The 2025 Hockey Alberta U17 AAA Provincial Championships are continuing at the Viking Rentals Centre.

At the Okotoks Art Gallery, Ashley Gaboury will teach youth aged 9 to 18 how to do Portrait drawing from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. During the class, youth will discover how to effectively use proportions, lines, shading, and colour to create characters.

Each Saturday, the Okotoks Public Library hosts a Teen Art Club, which teaches teens new art techniques, mediums, and styles each month. The event runs from 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. each Saturday.

The Okotoks Elks Club is hosting their regular meat draws and a perogy lunch at noon, and kids are welcome.

As always, the Sheep River parkrun is happening at Sheep River Park at 9 a.m., and at this, people are able to run, walk, or volunteer.

Sunday, April 6:

The Okotoks Trade and Lifestyle Show and the Spring Fling Market by Market Square are back at the Okotoks Rec Centre, beginning at 10 a.m.

The 2025 Hockey Alberta U17 AAA Provincial Championships continues.

At the Okotoks Rec Centre, there will be a ceremony to honour First World War veterans, with the ceremony beginning at 11 a.m.
