As the regular hockey season for the NHL winds down, the playoff picture starts to unfold. That means it’s time for NHL playoff hockey pool season, and why not kick it off with an early one, and one of the best around.
The Muenster Elks Hockey Draft lifts off on Saturday, April 12 in the lounge at the Muenster Curling Club. Organizer Derek Rude has your invitation.
“We get together to draft our players and have a calcutta to pick our teams to see who goes farthest in playoffs. It’s a lot of fun.”
The timing of Easter this year means it’s an early start for the draft, and the playoff picture might not be completely resolved by April 12. But fear not, Rude says, they’ll simply auction off the remaining positions instead of teams. Then you can take a risk/reward approach as to whether your favourites squeak through into the playoff scene.
“Brother Cliff Ehr will be cooking up the ribs for the evening, and that’s always a great addition.”
Refreshments are on at 7 pm and the draft begins at 8 with the calcutta to follow. Proceeds after the payout go to all the community service projects funded by the Muenster Elks.
