The Young Fellows Club of Weyburn is celebrating a successful Auction and Banquet event on Saturday evening, which featured a prime rib dinner, a photo booth, DJ Richy Roy, performances by the Calgary Dueling Pianos, movie theatre popcorn, the conclusion of the club's online auction of 400 items, and a live auction of 15 items.
"We are well over $100,000 between the online and the live auction that we raised," shared Ryan Skjerdal, one of the organizers of the event.
The side vegetables for the meal were sponsored by Prairie Sky Coop, with the desserts sponsored by MNP, both prepared by Cecelia's Banquet Hall. The Prime Rib was sponsored by Western Prime Meats and was smoked by members of the Young Fellows Club.
"Everything's going back to Weyburn and it was a huge success and we're very proud of Weyburn for all the support and all the businesses and sponsors that were able to either bid or sponsor the event. I mean we absolutely couldn't have done it without them."
"Everyone we talked to, it was a fantastic event. The food was unbelievable and the entertainment was great. Dueling Pianos were fantastic," he commented. "The whole branding I had from the start was the 'Young Fellows Night Out' and it's a must-be-at event every year. Everyone wants to come and I mean, they're getting one of the best meals you'll probably get in the year for a pretty good price."
The YF Wives Club of Weyburn decorated for the event with the help of Twine & Twig, and the group also held a 50/50 raffle with the winner, Derek Renner, taking home $2,500.
The Weyburn Theatre Community Service Cooperative provided fresh theatre popcorn, and the photo booth was sponsored by IESP. Photography by Dylan Grant was sponsored by Veren. The Calgary Dueling Pianos entertainment was sponsored by Weyburn Credit Union, and DJ Richy Roy was sponsored by Aldon Oils.
To cap off the night for those taking advantage of beverages during the event, the Safe Rides Home was sponsored by Barber Motors. The bar sponsors were Redline Well Servicing and C&R Lubricants, open bar sponsors were The LB and Bandits Distilling. The wine sponsor was Weyburn Dodge.
Club members gathered to share their total contributions to the community over the past 103 years has been $3 million.
"Since 1922, when the club was formed, we have now officially raised $3,000,000 through all of our fundraising efforts for the community of Weyburn, which was an unbelievable accomplishment for the club and very, very proud of being a part of the Weyburn Young Fellows."
Skjerdal added they will be hosting next year's event on April 11th.
