A new community scavenger hunt kicks off this week in downtown Cochrane, with local businesses teaming up to offer a gold rush of fun.
The Spring Scavengers event, organized by Found Books & Shop, runs every Thursday for the next four weeks.
"It's a gold rush scavenger hunt," says Tupaj Parrado with Found Books. "You can go to different Main Street businesses to collect coupons and exclusive gold nuggets."
The first three people to collect and return all 11 golden nuggets to Found Books by 7:00 p.m. on Thursdays will win a $25 gift card.
“It’s all about connecting businesses in a fun way.”
There’s no cost to participate and no purchase is necessary. But supplies are limited.
“There are only 20 envelopes per business,” Parrado says. “You’re going to want to get in there early if you want to collect them all.”

The envelopes will be placed on store counters and available when shops open Thursday morning.
A hand-drawn treasure map created by Parrado will help guide participants.
“It’s got little X’s on it like a real treasure map,” Parrado says. “Everything’s within a five-minute walk of the town square, so it’s easy to get around.”

Participating businesses include:
- Found Books & Shop
- Nectar and Root Flowers
- Vine Coffee Co.
- The Social Spot Marketplace
- Brio’s Boutique
- Amaryllis Crystals
- MacKay’s Ice Cream
- Root 22 Art Studio
- Rebel Comics
- Horse Creek Candy
- Shredz Skateboard Shop
The scavenger hunt runs every Thursday until May 1.
