Weyburn City Council held its regular meeting on Monday evening, moving it ahead by one week to accommodate the upcoming Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association convention, where several Weyburn city councillors are expected to be in attendance.

During the brief session, the council received updates from both the Fire Department and the Water Treatment Plant.

Mayor Jeff Richards also signed a proclamation recognizing the National Day of Mourning, which will be observed on April 28. The day commemorates workers who have been killed, injured, or made ill as a result of workplace-related incidents.

In other business, the council passed a resolution granting consent for title on a property that has fallen nearly three years into arrears on its property taxes. This step transfers the land title into the City of Weyburn’s name. The city will now have one year to sell the property and clear off any outstanding property taxes.

The next meeting of Weyburn City Council is scheduled for April 28th.
