On April 6, RCMP conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for having a mismatched license plate.
Just prior to the traffic stop. police observed a female walk away from the truck carrying a backpack. The female returned to the vehicle as police were speaking to the driver. The driver was found to be criminally prohibited from driving, and he could not provide registration, insurance, or a bill of sale.
Both the male driver and female passenger were found to be wanted on outstanding warrants and were arrested. The male was found to be in possession of bear spray and money believed to be proceeds of crime. Police located the backpack previously carried by the female passenger abandoned a short distance from the vehicle. Search of the backpack resulted in the seizure of:
- Cocaine
- Methamphetamine
- Heroin
Scott McKay (43) of no fixed address is charged with the following offences:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking heroin
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited
- Uninsured motor vehicle
- Improper use of license plate
A judicial Interim hearing was held for Mackay and he was remanded into custody. His next court appearance is April 10, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.
Marissa Greenwood (24) a resident of Penhold, has been charged with the following offences:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking heroin
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
A judicial Interim hearing was held for Greenwood where she was released by a Justice of the Peace. Her next court appearance is April 24, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.
