As the town of Leroy continues to grow, so does the annual Town Wide Event organized by the Leroy and District Recreation Board.

It began as a community wide garage sale, but Recreation Administrator Amy Schreiner says the event has grown over the last few years to include additional events.

“As our town has been growing, we’ve had to grab that momentum and worked with our events to make them bigger as well.”

Two events that have been incorporated into the festivities have been a Show n Shine along with a vendor market.

Schriener noted they’re looking to provide entertainment for everyone with the event.

“We’ve been expanding on that to grow them bigger, make them better, more inclusive so that we know at the end of the day that everyone has something to do.”

When it comes to the vendor market, they welcome plenty of variety.

“If you’re a home-based business, an artisan, a baker, a creator, you knit things, you make things out of clay, you’re selling tupperware, avon, whatever we want you.”

Along with local vendors, Schriener adds they extend the invitation to vendors from surrounding communities to get involved as well. She noted that last year Humboldt Ink were in attendance with four artists who tattooed all day.

Last year, a barber offered haircuts and Schriener said that he was cutting hair after the event had wrapped up because there was a huge demand.

The show ‘n’ shine in Leroy began in 2022 as a part of the community’s centennial celebrations, which drew plenty of entries. Schriener encourages all types of vehicles to enter the show n shine.

“We want people to showcase what they’re proud of.”

Registration is free for the show ‘n’ shine, and they will entries all the way up to the day of the event. There won’t be any judging, instead it will be a chance for motor enthusiasts to enjoy the different vehicles offered in the area.

The 4th Annual Town Wide Event in Leroy is set for Saturday, June 14.
