March 30, 2025, at 3:20 a.m., an officer with the Wetaskiwin Crime Reduction Unit was making patrols when they saw a known repeat offender sitting inside a truck parked at the 7-Eleven on 56 Street in Wetaskiwin.
The suspect was known to be on court-imposed curfew conditions. The suspect was taken into custody and a brown duffel bag located on the passenger side footwell was seized. The duffel bag was searched incidental to arrest, resulting in the seizure of a sawed-off prohibited shotgun and a replica firearm.
As a result of the investigation, RCMP have charged Millet resident Tristen Favel (32), with:
- Possession of a firearm when knowing possession unauthorized
- Possession of firearm/weapon/device/ammunition in motor vehicle
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon or restricted weapon
- Unsafe storage of firearms
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
- Possession of firearm with tampered serial number
- Fail to comply with release order condition (x2)
Favel was taken before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody with his next court date set for April 22, 2025, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Wetaskiwin.
