Cochrane hockey players will see action in the second round of the WHL playoffs, which kick off in Calgary on April 10.

On Tuesday night, the Prince Albert Raiders stormed back from a 3-1 series deficit in front of a sold-out home crowd to eliminate the Edmonton Oil Kings. While no dates have been confirmed for the upcoming series, they are expected to be released shortly.

Cochrane's Riley Boychuk played in all seven games for the Raiders, recording one goal, two assists, and a +1 rating.

The Raiders now face the top-seeded team in the Eastern Conference, the Medicine Hat Tigers, who feature Cochrane’s Kadon McCann and Ethan Neutens. The Tigers defeated the Swift Current Broncos 4-1 in the opening round.

In the Western Conference, the Spokane Chiefs open their semifinal series against the Victoria Royals on April 13. Cochrane defenceman Rhett Sather has appeared in one playoff game for the Chiefs so far, after dressing for 47 games during the regular season.

The Calgary Hitmen hold home-ice advantage in their series against the Lethbridge Hurricanes, hosting the southern Alberta team, Apr. 10 and 12 at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

The Everett Silvertips and Portland Winterhawks face off in the other Western Conference best-of-seven semifinal series.
