The defending MJHL champions have been pushed to the edge by the Northern Manitoba Blizzard and after falling in game three 3-1, they trail in the series 3-0.

Things appeared to be going alright for the Flyers in the opening 20 minutes. They controlled play, they had the edge in shots and chances, as well as finding the back of the net to open the scoring.

On a 5-on-3 power play, the Flyers pushed hard, firing chance after change toward the goal. Eventually, Isiah Peters walked in from the blueline and with a perfect screen in front, scored his first of the playoffs, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead and quieting down the rowdy crowd at the Roy H. Johnston arena. Jayce Legaarden and Nik Gudmundson picked up the assists.

It would be a different game after the first intermission.

The Blizzard came out strong and managed to find the goal to tie the game less than five minutes into the middle period.

Back and forth the two teams went, right up until the final minute of the period when it was the Flyers getting called for a penalty with under a minute to go.

Just as it looked as though they'd survive and keep the game square going into the intermission, the Blizzard found a way to get the puck over the line after a jam play in front, taking their first lead of the night, 2-1.

Try as they might, the Flyers were unable to find another goal despite having a power play in the final minutes, the Blizzard closed the game out with an empty net short handed goal to seal a 3-1 win.

Winkler's power play finished 1-5 while the penalty kill was 4-5.

Liam Ernst made 18 saves in the losing effort.

No time to rest for either team as game four is set for tonight (Thursday) at 7:00 p.m.
