With warm weather rolling into Weyburn, people will be starting to think about gardening and planting flowers for the upcoming year. The Rotary Club of Weyburn is thinking about it as well as they’re hosting a container gardening event at the Weyburn Legion next Thursday, April 17th from 7 to 9 p.m.
The owner of Rough Bark Acres, Jon Michaud, will be hosting the event with demonstrations on flower planting in pots and any other general gardening knowledge. Pat May with the Rotary Club of Weyburn is excited for the event and learning more about gardening with Jon Michaud.
“He has a wealth of knowledge, and he's going to be sending some of that knowledge with a demonstration on container gardening and doing some actual planters right there that night. We will be raffling off the two container planters that Jon is going to demonstrate, and he also has gift certificates for his Rough Bark Acres and all the proceeds go to Rotary.”
The Rotary Club of Weyburn host lots of community-minded fundraisers in the community, and this container gardening event allows them to continue and gives people some knowledge on planting that they may not otherwise know.
Held at the Weyburn Legion, tickets are $5 and will include chicken wings from the Legion as well. For those interested in attending, they are encouraged to RSVP by calling the Rotary Club at 306-861-2837 but you can also drop in as well if unsure of availability.
