From small household items and knick knacks, to furniture, bicycles, and even clothing, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #47's Huge Indoor Garage Sale held last weekend raised more than $8,000, and it all goes back into the Legion's general operating fund.
"We want to send out a huge shoutout and a huge thank you to all the people that donated items for our three-day garage sale," said Board Member Jerry Ponto.
While there were some bigger-ticket items included in the sale, the smaller items added up quickly as well.
"Five dollars here, five dollars there," he shared. "There were some very nice bigger ticket items from home furnishings to a variety of things, vacuum, cleaners, all kinds of merchandise that the community of Weyburn stepped up to the plate, came out and supported the garage sale, purchased the items."
Ponto pointed out that the sale ran from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on each of the days, giving the community at large a bigger opportunity to attend outside of working hours and stop in the Lounge for supper.
This week some local organizations helped clear the leftover items out of the hall.
"I'd like to send a shout-out to all the volunteers and staff at the Legion that put in a lot of long hours to organize that sale, and we're still wrapping it up and getting it cleaned up so we can use the hall again this weekend for the Soo Line Boxing Card."
