There will be a new champion of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League as the defending Turnbull Cup champs, the Winkler Flyers, were ousted in a series sweep by the Northern Manitoba Blizzard, losing game four 2-1 in overtime.

It was a struggle to find offense throughout the series for Winkler and that continued into the first period of game four.

The Blizzard came out strong and both teams went back and forth, but neither could find the back of the net. Shots were listed as 10=5 for the Blizzard but it remained 0-0 heading into the first intermission.

Throughout the first half of the second, it was a similar story to the first, but the Flyer's managed to gain some traction, however it was the home side that would jump out in front 1-0 less than two minutes into the second half of the frame.

Winkler held the edge in shots in the second but couldn't solve the Blizzard goaltender and trailed 1-0 heading into the final period.

As things started to look bleak, one of the biggest contributors this playoffs, Andrew Morton, scored to tie the game 1-1.

Morton, who always seemed to be lurking, picked off a terrible pass by the Blizzard in their own zone, walked in and potted his 5th of the playoffs.

Regulation solved nothing and game four would need overtime to find a winner.

The Flyers were gifted a chance late in overtime as a Blizzard defender put a puck out of play for a delay of game penalty.

While working the man advantage, a Blizzard penalty kill pressured near the blueline, forced a turnover, broke in all alone and scored, ending the Winkler Flyers season.

The Flyers power play went 0-5 in the game while the penalty kill 3-3.

The Winkler Flyers will be graduating a number of players that have a long history with the organization, including Brody Beauchemin, Jayce Legaarden, Isiah Peters, Nicholas McKee, and Connor Jensen.

Also graduating, playoff scoring leader Andrew Morton, and rugged defenders Will Brophy and Isaac Deveau.
