Students have a chance to take in 'Every Brilliant Thing' for free on Monday, April 14, during a matinee performance.

In a first come, first served format, the show will be open to students at 1 p.m., running till 3 p.m. The show features two 40-minute sets, with a small intermission between.

Helen Arnold, administrator for the Swift Current Arts Council, hopes that the students come out to enjoy the performance, although she cautions it's more for teens than for the younger kids.

"The play is a comedy, but it deals with depression," said Arnold. "It explores depression and the lengths we go to for loved ones that are dealing with depression as it blends humour with some emotional depth."

The show centres around a young seven-year-old boy, and how he deals with his mother's depression. He does so by listing everything wonderful in life.

There is some crowd participation in listing the better aspects of life.

"It is a great show for all audiences, and we enjoyed the snippet we got to watch," said Arnold. "From teenage years on, I think anyone would enjoy this performance."

Tickets for the regular show are still available on the Arts Council website for $20. This show is a part of the STARS for Sask. series.
