Traffic Stop Results in Multiple Charges by Brandon Police
On April 10th at 12:20PM a traffic stop was conducted in the 1800 block of Queens Avenue with a vehicle which had previously fled from Police approximately one week prior. Upon the 46-year-old male operator of the vehicle stepping out of the vehicle, a large icepick was observed lying beside the driver’s seat. He was arrested for possession of a weapon.
Further search of the vehicle located a 7mm firearm in the rear hatch. Operator stated that he had been a passenger earlier, the previous driver had been dropped off at a car dealership, and he was unaware of the contents within the vehicle.
Police attended the car dealership in which the male stated the previous driver (40-year-old male) had been dropped off at. It was verified the 40-year-old male had taken a vehicle for a test drive and had been gone for some time.
Police located the dealerships vehicle and upon activating the lights and attempting to pull the vehicle over, it did not stop but proceeded instead to creep forward at a slow pace. Police were able to box in the vehicle.
Inside the vehicle Police located beer, “moonshine”, 3.5 grams of cocaine, a small amount of meth and two knives. The 40-year-old male was also breaching numerous conditions of his Release Order.
The male was arrested, held in detention cells and will attend court in the morning on April 11th, 2025.
Charges include Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Firearm contrary to Prohibition Order x2, Unauthorized Possession of Firearm in a Vehicle, Transport Firearm contrary to Regulations, Breach of Release Order x6, and Possession of a Controlled Substance x2.
The 46-year-old male (from initial traffic stop) was released on an Appearance Notice with a court date of June 19th, 2025, with a charge of Possession of a Weapon.
