The Swift Current Comprehensive High School hosted SWAC distinct volleyball championships over the weekend.

The top two finishers after round robin advanced to SHSAA regionals on May 3rd.

Darrell Cuyagan of Maple Creek won the boys' singles, with Michael Liu of the SCCHS finishing second.

Sierra Frey of Maple Creek won the girls' singles, with Hannah Riego of the Comp finishing second.

Christine Vicente and Amy Scott of Maple Creek won the girls' doubles, while David Cocks and Karter Ries of Leader took first place in boys' doubles.

Savannah Frey and Aydan Buss of Maple Creek won mixed doubles. 

There were three different locations for junior sectionals on April 12th. 

The north section was hosted by Cabri with Cabri. Hazlet, Leader, Herbert, SCCHS, and Wymark competing.

  • Boys' singles:  1st Maverick Friesen (SCCHS), 2nd Kayson Zanidean (Hazlet)
  • Girls' singles:  1st Abby Bredson (Leader), Jaylin Tumbach (Leader)
  • Boys' doubles: 1st Isaac Fergusan/Arvee Santos (SCCHS), 2nd Carson Duchscherer /Colden Dale (Leader)
  • Girls' doubles:1st Danica Watson/Akosha Gallant (Cabri), 2nd Reece Lantican /Sofia Ubaldo (SCCHS)
  • Mixed doubles: 1st Rachel Cocks/Jett Ward (Leader), 2nd Emberlyn Fritz-Irwin/Tayvin Carlson (SCCHS)

The East section was held at Ponteix School with teams from Ecole Centennial, Central, Hodgeville, Ponteix, Vanguard, Shaunaovn and Val Marie.

  • Boys' singles: 1st Damon James (Ecole Centennial). 2nd Ethan Mything (Val Marie)
  • Girls' singles: 1st Bella Neufeld (Shaunavon), 2nd Paige Ulm (Ponteix)
  • Boys doubles: 1st Ryder Jorgensen/Willie Penner (Vanguard), 2nd Blake Simpson/Carter Wall  (Ecole Centennial).
  • Girls' doubles: 1st Ava Marleau / Lacie Kouri (Ponteix), 2nd Ally Watson and Julie Allen (Hodgeville)
  • Mixed doubles: 1st  Maylii Montgomery/ Abe Penner (Vanguard), 2nd Shay Hanson /Chris Stanley-Wale (Hodgeville)

Consul hosted the South section between Consul, Eastend, Frontier, Maple Creek, and Fox Valley

  • Boys singles: 1st Brayden Leismeiste (Consul), 2nd Reece Lacey (Eastend)
  • Girls singles: 1st Camryn Bock (Maple Creek), 2nd Elaina Uribe (Maple Creek)
  • Boys doubles: 1st Finn Gustafson/Josh Logan (Maple Creek), 2nd Gavin Lacey/Hayden Hall (Eastend)
  • Girls doubles: 1st Aeverie Hofer/Mackayla Delorme (Consul), Claire Topham/Jewels Armstrong (Eastend)
  • Mixed doubles:1st Mason O’Neill/Yza Fundal (Maple Creek), Ashton McPhail/Gabrielle Bosch (Fox Valley)

Junior districts are set for May 3rd at the comp.
