While not quite as toasty as last week, Moose Jaw is avoiding the deep freeze once again. Sunshine dominates the forecast, and there is even the potential for a warm-up once the weekend hits.

Environment and Climate Change Canada Warning Preparedness Meteorologist, Natalie Hasell, said that while the days will be warm, expect it to get chilly overnight.

“We’ve got a bunch of mostly sunny days for (Moose Jaw) coming in the next little while. We do have a bit of a system coming through on Tuesday, which is why the temperatures are a bit warmer during the day, and then that chance of showers in the evening-overnight," said Hasell.

“It’s a little breezy here and there, but not particularly bad, with a bit of a freeze-thaw cycle ... as temperature are going to be below zero for a number of days in the forecast.”

She mentioned that the system that is delivering the warmer temperatures to start the week off will give way to a bit of a cold front overnight Tuesday through the mid-week, although the chance of precipitation as the system moves is still low at this time.

“In terms of precipitation amounts, I don't see anything really significant passing over you folks, so I think that's why right now we only have a 40% chance of showers in the forecast in this case. Should something fall, it won't be very much, and the chance of it falling is low,” Hasell noted.

Despite that, she recommends keeping an eye on the conditions should travel be needed overnight Tuesday or Wednesday morning.

“Temperatures will be close to zero or below zero. It is a concern in terms of road conditions if you do get some precipitation,” said Hasell.

Other than the 19° high slated for tomorrow, temperatures will straddle the average expected for this time of year for much of the week, with sunshine and highs of 12° on Wednesday, 10° on Thursday, before dipping slightly to 8° on Friday.

Barring any changes, the weekend is set to hover 6° above the norm for mid-April, with 17° predicted as the high for both Saturday and Sunday.
