Municipal leaders from across the province will be gathering this week for the annual Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association Convention. SUMA President Randy Goulden says the annual event provides a space for municipalities to engage in discussions with the provincial government and each other regarding infrastructure, funding, and bylaw concerns to name a few. “It’s an excellent time to talk about what might be concerning them, because the solution might be happening in another municipality, ” she explains.
This year’s theme is ‘We Are Urban’, with a focus on celebrating what each municipality brings to the province. Alongside seminars and presentations, attendees will also be able to check out the hundreds of vendors participating in the SUMA tradeshow. “It’s a huge marketplace where they can visit with the vendors, with the people that provide services to our communities, and they can talk to the representatives face to face and see some of the products that they can bring back to their communities.”
The convention takes place at TCU Place and runs until Wednesday afternoon.
