With spring weather settling in, Rocky View County has officially put its seasonal road bans into effect.
The restrictions, which began yesterday and are expected to last into early June, are aimed at protecting vulnerable roadways during the spring thaw.
Softer surfaces this time of year are more prone to damage, and limiting the weight of commercial and heavy-duty vehicles helps extend road life, reduce repair costs, and keep conditions safer for all drivers.
Passenger and recreational vehicles are not affected, but enforcement officers will be out conducting spot checks on commercial traffic.
During the ban, weight restrictions include 90 per cent on paved and gravel roads, 75 per cent on chip-sealed or oil-surfaced roads, and 50 per cent on roads deemed especially vulnerable.
