Yesterday, the Airdrie Fire Department forwarded a donation from the Ecole Edwards Elementary School Student Council to the Calgary Burn Treatment Society (CFBTS).
Garth Rabel, a Deputy Chief for the Airdrie Fire Department, explained that it was grade five students that decided to fundraise for AFD.
"One of the members of their team, unfortunately had a residential fire in their home, and when they saw the work that was done by our fire team and the support that was provided and the care that was delivered, they generously chose Airdrie Fire as a recipient for their donation."
Around $700 was then forwarded on the Calgary Burn Treatment Society.
The vision of the CFBTS is to support initiatives that will improve outcomes and quality of life for burn survivors and individuals affected by other severe skin injuries.

Their money will make a unique and meaningful difference in healthcare," stated Rabel.
Rabel went on to talk about how it makes him feeling knowing these kids wanted to give back to AFD for the work they did when one of their classmates house was on fire.
"Makes me feel very comfortable and confident that this generation of young people that are are growing up now have compassionate hearts and their community focused and they will look out for the first responders."
The $700 was raised by the students selling lollipops within the school.
