As the 2025 season approaches, Morden Christmas Cheer is inviting the community to support local families through a fun and meaningful fundraiser — the “There’s No Place Like Home” raffle. With two locally-focused staycation packages up for grabs, the initiative highlights all the reasons to love life in Morden, while raising funds for families in need.

The raffle draw takes place April 28th at 5:00 PM at the Access Event Centre, and tickets are just $10 each or 3 for $20.

Chelsey Delaquis with Morden Christmas Cheer says the idea was a natural fit for their community-driven efforts. “A staycation package was a no-brainer,” she explained. “Morden Christmas Cheer is completely fueled by community support, so raffling off some staycation packages made sense. We reached out to a few local businesses and they were so generous and donated so many wonderful prizes.”

Two prize packages packed with local fun

Prize package #1 includes a two-night yurt rental at Lake Minnewasta, a four-pack paddle rental from the Morden Paddle Club, golf passes, $25 to the Jurassic Golf Clubhouse, and a $30 gift card to Leparq Pizzeria.

Package #2 features a one-night stay at the Best Western Plus Morden, four passes to Morden’s escape room, a one-year family membership to the Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre, $25 to Moment in Thyme, and another $30 for Leparq Pizzeria.

“Morden has an amazing campground, golf course, some incredible museums, and great recreational spaces,” Delaquis said, noting how the staycation packages highlight the kind of experiences residents often forget they have access to right in their own backyard.

Best of all, everything in the raffle was donated by local businesses. “We paid for nothing,” she said. “Every single prize was given just to give back. That’s huge — to know they’re willing to step up and support Morden Christmas Cheer.”

More than just a raffle

The raffle is more than a fundraiser — it’s a reminder of the importance of supporting local. “We always want to promote supporting local,” Delaquis said. “There’s something special about the nostalgia and the personal touches these businesses bring.”

Tickets are available now, and can be purchased by messaging Morden Christmas Cheer on Facebook or Instagram.

A growing need in Morden

While the raffle is fun, the need it supports is growing. In 2024, Morden Christmas Cheer prepared 383 hampers and wrapped 526 gifts for children — a jump of 100 gifts from the year before.

“That number just made me stop for a moment,” Delaquis shared. “It is heartbreaking, and it reminds you that we all need to give back a little more — be a little more selfless.”
