The northern lights are expected to make an appearance over Alberta early tonight.

A strong geomagnetic storm is forecast, with a Kp index of 7 out of 9, meaning great aurora viewing potential.

The best chance to catch the lights will be in the early morning hours, especially around Edmonton, where skies should be mostly clear and temperatures around 2°C.
