A makeup artist based in the southeast won a provincial award for their work in the wedding industry earlier this month. The Saskatchewan Wedding Industry Awards held their show on Sunday, with the award for Best Makeup Professional 2025 going to Keisha Ziegler.
Ziegler has been working in the southeast for the past eight years, doing makeup for bridal parties, graduates, and special events.
She was happy to receive some recognition from the industry in the form of an award.
"It makes me feel very proud of myself and all the hard work that's been put in over the years. This kind of makes it feel worth it."
The past eight years have been hectic for Ziegler, as she started out her career in a nearby city.
"When I first started, I worked under The Make-Up Lounge & Style Bar in Regina. So I was working for somebody, and then over the years, I have grown into my very own business."
For the future, Ziegler says she'd like to travel and see more while expanding her business.
"My future plans for my business are to still offer bridal services, graduations, and special events. I would also love to travel more for my bridal parties and maybe eventually incorporate part of my other businesses with makeup, such as photography."
With all the work she's put into her own business, Ziegler encourages people to take a chance on their own business.
"I'm a big believer of if you love something, you should go for it. So I think that if there's anyone out there that is interested and becoming their own boss or even just going for what they love, I encourage them to do so."
Ziegler thanked everyone for all the support they've shown her business and the Saskatchewan Wedding Industry Awards for putting on the event.
