Estevan police responded to a variety of calls this week, including motor vehicle collisions, child welfare concerns, suspicious activity, and ongoing investigations into threats and theft.
On April 15, the Estevan Police Service received a report of a two-vehicle collision in the north part of the city. Members attended and assisted with the exchange of driver information. No injuries were reported.
A concerned citizen reported seeing a young child walking alone. Police located the child's residence and reunited the child with their family. In an unrelated incident, a second report was received of a child walking alone. Officers were able to contact the child’s parents, and the child was safely reunited with them.
A suspicious vehicle was reported in the southeast area of the city. Police contacted the registered owner and determined they were experiencing mechanical issues and were in the process of having the vehicle towed.
The following day, police maintained the peace at multiple locations while a landlord conducted a property inspection and a derelict trailer was removed from a property.
A report of a vehicle failing to stop at a crosswalk for pedestrians is under investigation.
Police also received a report of two females shoplifting from a local business. The investigation is ongoing.
Several reports of suspicious persons were received and investigated throughout the day. In each case, officers made contact with the individuals and found no criminal activity.
A complaint of an individual uttering threats is being investigated.
Police responded to a domestic disturbance after a 911 call was received in which the caller did not respond to dispatch staff. Officers located the individuals involved, mediated the situation and provided referrals through the Police and Crisis Team (PACT).
