Residents across the region have been enjoying some pleasant, spring-like conditions, but a shift in the weather is on the horizon.
Stephan Berg, a meteorologist with the Department of Climate Change Canada, says a cold front is expected to move through the area overnight, bringing a noticeable temperature drop.

"I wish I could change it, but there's a bit of a cold front that's coming through overnight," Berg explained.

"Temperatures will drop into the single-digit minuses, so it'll be a bit of a chillier night. Still a warmish day tomorrow, but temperatures will be about five degrees below normal," said Berg

With earlier rainfall during the day, there may be concerns about slick roads as temperatures drop. However, he doesn't expect any significant issues.

"If the rainwater didn't evaporate before the cold front rolled in, things should stay fairly safe. But there might be a few little spots here and there where it could be a bit slick," he said. "Still, I wouldn't expect that much tonight."

As for the longer-term outlook, the back-and-forth between warm and cold isn't sticking around for long.

"After this little cold snap move through, temperatures rebound quite considerably for Saturday into the mid-teens, which is slightly above normal," he said.

"Then we're looking at a return to more seasonal conditions for much of next week."

The approaching cold front might also bring gusty winds, with speeds expected between 40 and 50 kilometers per hour.

"So just something to be mindful of," Berg added. "But nothing out of the ordinary, just your typical spring mix of rain, cold, and a bit of wind.
