Members of non-profit River Street Promotions were joined at Ross Wells Ballpark on April 17 by Prairie South School Division and Holy Trinity Catholic School Division representatives to announce the lineup for this September’s Homestand ‘25 charity concert.

“Thank you all for being here today for this announcement,” said Laurie Kosior-Pappenfoot, c-chair of the Homestand ‘25 committee. “And we’re grateful to be joined by members of our committee, and by Dustin Swanson from the Prairie South School Division and Ward Strueby from the Holy Trinity Catholic School Division.”

Coming to Ross Wells on September 6, 2025 for the fifth annual Homestand concert are openers The Steadies (returning two years in a row), Canadian icon Fred Penner, alternative country band Elliott BROOD, and rock band Streetheart, originally from Regina.

The headliner for the concert will be announced in mid-July.

River Street Promotions is a non-profit organization born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, from a group of five friends who decided to start promoting youth mental wellness through entertainment. They have now raised over $500,000 for youth mental health initiatives at both Moose Jaw school divisions — funds are disbursed through a grant-matching program for projects across southern Saskatchewan.

Their flagship event, the Homestand concert series, has become a beloved tradition in the community to close out summer, and attracts top-tier musical acts (54-40, Corb Lund, Toque) while providing a platform for both iconic and rising stars. The organization collaborates with local businesses and sponsors such as presenting sponsor K+S Potash Canada to ensure the success of these events and support their mission.

“K+S Potash Canada has been our title sponsor for the full five-year span of Homestand events,” said Mark Novecosky, the other Homestand ‘25 committee co-chair. “Youth wellness initiatives are very near and dear to K+S Potash and their vision aligns a lot with River Street Promotions’.

“I really like the diversity of the lineup this year, I mean, we have everybody from The Steadies, crowd favourites from last year — a lot of people don’t know that frontman Earl (Pereira) is a three-time Juno nominee! He’s toured with The Rolling Stones and Tragically Hip. Not a lot of people from Saskatchewan can say that. Their high-energy act is really going to kick off the show with a bang.

“Elliott Brood brings a mix from country to punk to bluegrass, and I think there’s going to be a lot of new fans of them. Fred Penner is coming — he’s a Canadian treasure and we’re excited to have that family-friendly act. And, of course, Streetheart — crowd favourites in Saskatchewan for decades and decades.”

The Homestand concerts are held annually at Ross Wells Ballpark, transforming the historic venue into a concert space that always receives rave reviews, from the food trucks to the bathroom facilities to the staging and equipment.

The Homestand committee now has about 20 dedicated volunteers who spend essentially the entire year planning. They are helped along by hundreds more volunteers who take tickets, provide event security, help out with set-up and take-down, and a lot more.

“This is definitely a community event,” Novecosky added. “Without our volunteers, we wouldn’t have this, so yeah, looking forward to many more helpers along the way.”
