KENNETH LESLIE HOLLAND
October 12, 1934 – April 20, 2025

Ken passed away peacefully on April 20, 2025 in Portage la Prairie. Ken is survived by his daughters, Leslie-Anne Hornberger (Barry), and Bobbi-Jo Gauld (Stuart), as well as his sister Bernice Kaleka (Ken), his brother-in-law Evan Smith (Margaret), and many cherished nephews and nieces. Ken was predeceased by his parents Les and Edith Holland, his brother Billy and his beloved wife of fifty years, Jeanne, who passed in 2011.

Shortly after Dad was born in Winnipeg the family returned to the farm in the Kirkham’s Bridge area, west of Brandon, where he spent his formative years. After school Dad apprenticed in his chosen trade in Brandon before moving to Portage la Prairie. It wasn’t long until he set out on his own by establishing Ken’s Plumbing & Heating. This was followed by the purchase of Plains City Car Wash. Dad and Mom successfully operated both businesses for many years until the time came to enjoy retirement. Prior to Mom’s passing, retirement allowed Dad & Mom to travel abroad and explore Manitoba in their camper. They treasured their time together at their home away from home, 17 East Beach, Delta, the scene of many family gatherings and celebrations over the years. Dad especially enjoyed the annual Thanksgiving gathering of the Smith Family. This often coincided with his birthday, resulting in a special celebration surrounded by his favorite people.

The family extends sincerest thanks to the amazing staff of Lions Prairie Manor for providing such wonderful care for Dad during his time with them.

Dad, please give Mom a hug for us. You said so often in the past couple of years,
“She’s been waiting a long time for me”.

To honor Dad’s wishes, no formal service will be held. A private family gathering will take place this summer. If friends so wish, donations may be made in Ken’s memory to Lions Prairie Manor Foundation, 24 9th Street SE, Portage la Prairie, Manitoba R1N 3V4.

A tree will be planted and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel.
