Estevan police responded to a variety of calls over a recent stretch, including a mischief investigation, wellness checks, tenant disputes and reports of suspicious activity across the city.
On April 18, Police were dispatched to a burglar alarm at a business on the northeast end of the city. Members spoke with staff and it was determined to be a false alarm.
A suspicious female was reported to police, along with a description and last known direction of travel. The woman, who is known to police, was observed on camera in a yard attempting to gain access to buildings and other property. She was located, arrested and charged with mischief. She was released with a court date in June.
EPS was dispatched to a report of a female in distress. The Police and Crisis Team (PACT), along with patrol members, attended and the woman was transported to hospital for further assessment.
Police responded to what was reported as a break and enter in progress at a residence. Members determined that the incident stemmed from a dispute over cab fare. During the investigation, it was reported that threats had been uttered. The matter remains under investigation.
The following day, police received a call regarding a disturbance and dispute between two parties. Both individuals were spoken to and separated for the evening. The PACT team assisted one party in connecting to local services.
Police received a report of a suspicious male in the north end of the city, allegedly walking around smoking from a crack pipe. A male was located in the area, but was not committing a criminal offence when encountered by police, and there were insufficient grounds to investigate further.
EPS responded to a dispute between two tenants. Officers attended and mediated a resolution.
Police also received a Report Impaired Driver (RID) call regarding a vehicle leaving a local liquor establishment. The vehicle was stopped by police and the driver was found not to be impaired.
