Houses in Midale aren’t staying on the market for long, a trend that’s caught the attention of town officials.
“Properties are moving pretty quickly,” said Chief Administrative Officer Dena Scott.
While she’s not exactly sure what’s driving the demand, she suspects affordability plays a role.
“The cost of the houses, that type of thing, isn’t as high as it is in the cities,” she said, noting that even with a commute, Midale’s lower cost of living could be a major draw.
With new families moving in and interest in the community growing, the town is hoping to invest in amenities that help sustain that momentum, beginning with a new swimming pool.
Midale’s current pool has served the community for decades, but Scott said it’s nearing the end of its usable life. Plans for a replacement are still in the early stages, but the town has launched fundraising efforts in the hopes of beginning construction within the next couple of years.
“It’s pretty much all on our table,” said Scott, adding that no outside grants have been secured yet.
She said the pool is more than just a summer amenity, it’s part of what makes small-town life vibrant and appealing.
“Community amenities like the pool are essential to keeping small towns like Midale vibrant and growing,” added Scott.
