A new song has been released from Made in Manitoba artist, Emmy Xornam all about the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus dying on the cross.

Xornam hopes that after hearing "The Sacrifice," listeners will meditate on the ultimate sacrifice. "As Christians, the sacrifice of Jesus is the foundation of our belief. If Jesus did not actually go to the cross to make the sacrifice and to resurrect and come for us, we wouldn't actually have had hope and belief. I just want people to know that they've been justified."

Back in 2017, when Xornam originally created the song, she said the lyrics came first before the music. "It was more like getting the melody and lyrics and then later going to the studio to actually put the music to it. It was an inspiration based on the understanding that I've been justified. My sins have been paid for, you don't have to beat yourself. The Bible says that if you sin, there is still forgiveness. Knowing that the blood atones for our sins day in and day out because it doesn't lose its power."

"The Sacrifice" contains a mixture of English and non-English, a point that came naturally for Xornam. "The non-English part of the song is actually in Twi, which is a Ghanaian language back in West Africa. It's part of my country's local dialects, and it was just natural."

Originally, she wondered if she should translate the song completely to English, but she quickly decided against it. "At the point of recording this song, I was thinking to myself, should I just translate the lyrics and the melody to English so that the whole song will be in English? I tried, and it just didn't feel authentic. It didn't feel like it carried the same impact."

Despite the language barrier, Xornam says the feedback has been positive. "People, non-Ghanaians or people who don't understand my language, have listened to it and they are like, 'This is beautiful.'"

In the future, Xornam is excited to release an EP. "I've been in the studio recording a number of songs, which I'm hoping to share with everybody in due time. Hopefully this year, though, towards the end of the year. More inspiration, some danceable songs, some worship songs that will bless their devotional time and just some inspiration and some encouragement to help our faith and our journey of faith."
