A low scoring defensive battle in front of the 1703 in attendance; head coach and general manager of the Red Wings, Cody Mapes, comments on the contested effort.
“I don’t know if there would have been 10 scoring chances in the entire game for both teams combined. I thought we checked really well. I thought we did a lot of good things, tried to do a couple little things different tonight that I thought brought us some success. I don't think there's a secret sauce to it. We got to get our forecheck going and we got to have a little more grit and a little more determination there."
The Mustangs now go up 2-1 in the best-of-seven series and will faceoff Thursday night for Game 4 of the Canterra Seeds Cup, looking to take a 3-1 lead back to Melfort and close it out in Game 5 on Sunday. The Red Wings will look to even up the series and take the best road team of the SJHL into Melfort for Game 5, a place they’ve already won this series.
