It was the subject of attention from numerous media representatives, including outside of Weyburn.

Perceptions surrounding Fred Sandeski's end of stay at the Weyburn Special Care Home last Wednesday resulted in some backlash toward the Weyburn Police Service.

Originally, it had been reported there were armed police officers in attendance within the facility to take part in an eviction.

"The care home story was out there that two armed officers were there to escort him out of the building. We just wanted to clarify, Weyburn Police Service did not attend, was never asked to attend," said Deputy Chief Shane St. John.

"We did have one member, with a great big heart, out of concern for Mrs. Sandeski, actually stopped and spoke with her to make sure she was okay, to see if she needed anything. That was the extent of Weyburn Police Service involvement," he clarified.

St. John added the WPS does not take part in evictions from anywhere, other than to help keep the peace if and when called to do so.
