The Royal Canadian Legion #47 in Weyburn is selling tickets for their Father's Day 50/50 raffle, which could mean one lucky winner will take home up to $10,000.

Legion Executive member Jerry Ponto said you don't have to be a father to win the prize.

"We'd gladly award the prize to anybody. There will only be a thousand tickets available. Half of the money goes to the Legion, and half of the money goes to the lucky winner. Ticket prices are $20 each. They're available here at the branch during normal operating hours, Tuesday through Saturday from 1 till 9 p.m., and other than that, you can get them from any executive member, and as well, some of our community volunteers will be stationed throughout the community over the coming weeks, so that you can go and visit them and pick up a ticket there."

Ponto said they will be posting their ticket sale locations on their Facebook page, where the full contest rules are also available.

As well, new to the Legion is also the option of purchasing a ticket via e-transfer.

"We'd like to make the transaction as smooth and as simple as possible."

The draw will be made at 5 p.m. on June 14th, which is the same day as the Soo Line Cruisers Car Club's annual Show & Shine Car Show, and the City of Weyburn's Walk of Fame induction ceremony.

"It's going to be an exciting time down around the Legion and the downtown core on that weekend," Ponto noted.

He said the funds go toward the operation costs for the Legion.

"That goes a long ways to helping us keeping the doors open here at the Legion, so it's a great thing for the community to support, and it's a support that's much needed and much appreciated."

"Don't wait, get your ticket in the drum early, and we wish everyone the best of luck."
