Carnduff RCMP are investigating after a false report of a stolen vehicle led to a suspicious fire northeast of Outram.
On April 20, Carnduff RCMP received a report that a vehicle had been stolen. Later that day, officers responded to a report of a vehicle on fire in a rural area northeast of Outram, Sask. Investigation determined it was the same vehicle that had been reported stolen.
Further investigation revealed the vehicle had not been stolen and that the initial report to police was false. The fire was deemed suspicious.
On April 25, Carnduff RCMP arrested 29-year-old Brittany Samson of Glen Ewen in connection with the investigation. She is charged with:

Arson for fraudulent purpose, Section 435(1) of the Criminal Code;

Fraud over $5,000, Section 380(1)(a) of the Criminal Code;

Public mischief, Section 140(1)(c) of the Criminal Code.
Samson is scheduled to appear in Estevan Provincial Court on June 9, 2025.
Carnduff RCMP continue to investigate and believe additional individuals may have been involved. Anyone who has information, or who saw suspicious activity in the rural area northeast of Outram on April 20, is asked to contact Carnduff RCMP by calling 310-RCMP.
