As the 2025 golf season approaches, Pleasant Valley Golf Club is set to welcome familiar faces as well as new golfers from across the province to their incredible course.
Manager Cheryl Berry is thrilled that opening day is finally here. "Our 18 hole championship course wintered very well," she says proudly. "We're so excited to welcome everyone back. Newcomers are welcome and they should know we have water hazards only, no sand traps, so only the occasional ball will be swallowed up by the water."
There are a couple of standout features that Berry praises. "Everyone talks about hole 15, because of the high elevation and hole 17 has a picturesque view with the whole valley spread out before our golfers. Superintendent, Tim Kroeker, says his favorite hole is number 6, it is a reachable par 4 with multiple water hazards. Risk and reward at its best! Our greenskeepers have the course already to go for our opening date of May 1st. Other amenities at the club include a nine-hole practice putting green, 40 golf cart rentals and a fully licensed clubhouse and restaurant. You can enjoy food or a beverage on our front patio or back patio. Plus, any day treat yourself to a soft ice cream. There is "Nothing Quite Like It"
Having been with the course for a number of years now, Berry says the thrill of welcoming back familiar members is always special. "It's so special to be here at Pleasant Valley Golf, it's like a huge family down there. There are lots of cottages or permanent homes that live outside the course. We're at the very end of Pelican Lake, so people can boat down to golf or grab an ice cream. We have folks come from all over Westman. People want to see the course. They check us out on Facebook or they look at our website Pleasant Valley Golf Club, we're so excited to welcome new comers and return golfers."
Golfers love to travel and for Berry, she says this course is set up for all skill levels and it's absolutely worth the trip that will have golfers talking. "There's nothing quite like it in the valley, we have so much to offer with the beautiful scenery. Our front nine is relatively flat, we just have the creek running through it. The back nine, there is 125 foot difference in elevation. You're going through trees and bush, it's just two different 9 hole experiences. It's one you will love and want to come back for again and again. It's really built for everyone."
Booking online is easy through their website and it's also a great way to check out different options. "We have so much that is happening this summer and it's all on the website," Berry explains. "We have men's, ladies, senior men's, scrambles, a men's and ladies night each week, everyone is welcome to check that out and join, we welcome non members as well."
2025 also happens to mark a special milestone for the Berry family. "This year is our 10th season of owning the golf course," the manager says with a heartfelt smile. "It's been an absolutely wonderful 10 years. Our family has totally enjoyed meeting all the people, everyone is just so nice, all that stop by the course make it a happy experience. It's truly an honour to welcome people to our valley and in the future, we will continue to have this beautiful 18 hole championship course available to the people that make it feel like home."
