Construction on Stage 3 of James Walker Trail in Cochrane is set to begin shortly, with most of the work taking place in undeveloped green-field areas.
The Town says the project is not expected to impact nearby roads or residential areas.
Starting May 1, a key traffic change will affect gravel hauling operations.
Access to the Heidelberg gravel pit from James Walker Trail at Highway 22 will be closed. Instead, gravel trucks will be rerouted via Griffin Road.

Drivers are reminded that gravel trucks are strictly prohibited from using River Heights Drive. Enforcement measures will be in place, and violators will be ticketed.
As a result of the detour, drivers can expect a slight increase in truck traffic along Griffin Road.
Meanwhile, a functional study is underway to explore potential upgrades to Griffin Road, including expanding it to four lanes and adding bike lanes and multi-modal transportation features.
Earlier this year, the Town approved to borrow $17.89 million for the project.
