An officer assault and several arrests marked a busy start to the week for Estevan police.
Categories

Estevan police dealt with a string of calls to start the week, including public intoxication, domestic disputes, and an arrest that led to an officer being assaulted.

Officers were called to a hotel for a report of a guest who refused to leave after checkout. Upon investigation, police learned the man was under conditions to have no contact with a woman staying in the same room. He was arrested for breaching those conditions.

A well-being check was conducted on the occupant of a motorhome that was parked in a business lot for several days. The individual was found safe and not in need of assistance.

Police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in the south-central area of the city. It was determined to be a loud verbal argument. Nothing criminal had occurred, and officers were able to mediate the situation on the scene.

Officers also responded to a report of shoplifting at a local grocery store. Surveillance footage of the theft was obtained, and the investigation is ongoing.

A 33-year-old Estevan woman was arrested after police responded to a report of a female causing a disturbance. She was found intoxicated in a public place and was lodged in cells overnight.

In a separate incident, police were called to a motel for another disturbance involving a woman. Officers determined the 65-year-old Regina woman was upset with staff after her son, who had been staying at the property, was arrested the previous day. She was spoken to and escorted from the premises.

The following day, police responded to a report of two individuals fighting on a residential street. A 22-year-old man was arrested for being intoxicated in public and causing a disturbance. While being taken into custody, the man allegedly spat on an officer and was charged with assaulting a police officer. He remains in custody facing several additional charges, including violent offences. A bail hearing was scheduled for April 30.

Later that day, officers were called to a local liquor establishment after a man entered the business and asked staff to call police, claiming someone was following him and intended to harm him. An investigation found no evidence to support the claim. Shortly after, the same man attended EPS headquarters, reporting he was having a panic attack. He was transported to the hospital for assessment and treatment.

Police also responded to a report of a man outside a hotel yelling and acting erratically. Officers spoke with the individual and directed him to return to his room and stop the behaviour. No further complaints were received.
