Winnipeg Transit users can preview schedules and plan trips on the soon-to-launch Primary Transit Network, which goes live on June 29, 2025.

The City of Winnipeg has enabled a test mode on both winnipegtransit.com and the Winnipeg Transit app, giving passengers a chance to explore the new system before it officially replaces the current one. Riders can now preview routes, schedules, and printable timetables using a new feature that simulates trip planning on the upcoming network.

“This is a complete transformation of our transit system, with more efficient, more reliable service for more Winnipeggers,” said Winnipeg Mayor Scott Gillingham. “You can now see exactly how you’ll get anywhere in Winnipeg, with routes that are more frequent, more direct, and easier to use.”

The new network, built around the Primary Transit Network and its feeder routes, represents the most significant schedule and route overhaul in Winnipeg Transit’s history. Riders are being encouraged to test their usual commutes in advance to get familiar with the changes.

“Making such comprehensive changes to an entire public transit system for a city the size of Winnipeg is a monumental task,” said Glen Simard, Manitoba’s Minister for Municipal and Northern Relations. “I congratulate the mayor and council for their initiative to improve transit services, update schedules and routes and make public transit in Manitoba’s largest city more accessible and user-friendly.”

To use the preview feature, riders can click on a banner or button found on every page of the Transit website. Trip plans will default to a day in mid-July for testing purposes, but users can adjust dates and times. Printable timetables are also available under the ‘Explore routes’ section.

The City is also asking users to report any errors or unexpected results in the trip planner to 311, including screenshots and trip details, to help improve the service ahead of the launch.

Infrastructure upgrades to support the new network—such as bus stop signs, platforms, and traffic signals—are ongoing and will continue after the rollout, funded through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program with support from all levels of government.

More information about the network redesign is available at winnipeg.ca/primarytransitnetwork.
