St. Michael School in the Holy Family Roman Catholic Separate School Division (RCSSD) has announced the appointment of a new principal. Michelle Walkeden will step into the role at the beginning of the next school year, replacing current Principal Sabrina Gulka, who will become the division’s new Superintendent of Human Resources.
According to a release from the Holy Family RCSSD, Walkeden has been part of the St. Michael School community for many years, serving as a teacher, learning facilitator, and most recently, Vice-Principal. She is described as a " passionate advocate for Catholic education" bringing a wealth of experience and dedication to faith-based education. Walkeden has also worked closely with the St. Vincent de Paul Parish.
Reflecting on her new role, Walkeden said, “I am very excited to take on the role of Principal at St. Michael School. I am honored to continue this journey in a new capacity and remain committed to nurturing a Christ-centered environment where every child is encouraged to grow spiritually, academically, and personally. Together, with our dedicated staff and the support of our parish and families, I look forward to building upon the strong foundation we have established.”
Ken Sampson, Director of Education for the Holy Family RCSSD, expressed confidence in Walkeden’s appointment.
"Michelle is also a strong proponent of quality education and success for all learners. I am confident that Michelle will inspire excellence and compassion within her staff as they continue to serve the students entrusted to our care."
Walkeden will officially assume her new role at the start of the upcoming school year.
