Community members who are at higher risk of serious illness or complications from COVID-19 can now receive an additional dose and are being notified about spring COVID-19 vaccine eligibility.
Individuals are eligible for another dose of the vaccine if they are;
80 years of age or older,
A resident of a long-term care facility or personal care home,
Over the age of six months and under a condition that leaves them immunocompromised, or
Between the ages of 65-79 and have previously been vaccinated.
Additionally, those who haven't yet received a 2024-25 COVID-19 vaccine or who haven't received their primary vaccines are able to be immunized up until June 14.
According to the Saskatchewan Health Authority, COVID-19 vaccines have been shown to be effective at preventing severe illness, hospitalization, and death due to COVID-19, in addition to decreasing the risk of Long COVID.
Folks can view a list of walk-in COVID-19 clinics at saskhealthauthority.ca/COVID-19 or through the Saskatchewan Health Authority's Patient Booking System. Those eligible can also check with a local pharmacy or book an appointment with a Public Health Office.
