Team Saskatchewan A claimed the top spot at the Interprovincial 5 Pin Bowling Championship, taking home gold after a nail-biting series of playoff matches in Saskatoon this past weekend.

The national event, held April 23–27, brought together teams from across the country to compete in one of Canada’s most celebrated bowling championships. The winning Saskatchewan A team, representing the West Saskatchewan Zone, featured bowlers Bridget Berg (Rosetown), Yvonne Markewich (Biggar), Leonard Lapierre (Lashburn), Mat Harrabek (Biggar), and Coach Alvin Anderson (Lashburn).

“It came down to the wire more than once,” organizers noted. “But Saskatchewan A pulled together as a team when it mattered most.”

Meanwhile, Team Saskatchewan B, representing Social Bowl in Swift Current, also turned in a strong performance. The team — made up of Tiarra Korchalo, Tyrone Shaw, Anika Blaschuk, Don Hornung, and Coach Teagan Gader — finished in eighth place overall.

In a unique cross-provincial moment, Jennifer Heimbecker of Rosetown also took part in the event, stepping up to coach a team from Prince Edward Island, highlighting the collaborative spirit that defines the competition.

Organizers say the event would not have been possible without the contributions of sponsors, dedicated volunteers, and the local bowling community who helped welcome athletes from coast to coast.
