The Cochrane Activettes continue to play a vital role in providing short-term support for local families in need through the Family Resource Network (FRN).

Recently, the women’s service organization donated $15,000 to support the FRN’s respite care program.

Cochrane FCSS manager Kim Krawec says the funding is critical. Without the Activettes’ support, she says the short-term help offered during times of crisis simply wouldn’t exist, as no provincial funding is available for the program.

“That’s actually the sole funding that operates the program, and it is one of the most amazing programs in that it supports parents experiencing any crisis or emergency,” said Krawec.

“We know parenting is probably the hardest job in the entire world that you do, but if you’re parenting and you don’t have a support network or something happens in your life that creates a bit of a crisis, it becomes more critical to have this support.”
